I'll never forget his cross-country walk. It was very inspiring and it's awesome that he's still volunteering. Good luck to him in college.

Tom Cruise awakening to Scientology, or will "special dispensation" keep him in?
by King Solomon inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2211469/is-tom-cruise-finally-seeing-light-scientology.html.
scientology's most famous adherent, tom cruise, is believed to be receiving special dispensation to see his daughter, suri, six, after ex-wife katie holmes withdrew herself and their daughter from the membership.
normally members are forbidden from contacting ex-partners who leave the 60-year-old cult.

I had no idea how crazy Scientology was until I read this article the other day. I think Tom Cruise is in it for life and perhaps a wee bit insane.
http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2012/10/katie-holmes-divorce-scientology
" In the fall of 2004, an accomplished, gorgeous Scientologist named Nazanin Boniadi was allegedly selected by officials in the organization to be Tom Cruise’s next girlfriend. Her never-before-told story—of the months inseparable from the star (and his watchers), before she fell out of favor—reveals a complex dynamic that also affected Cruise's relationships with Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, and, now, Katie Holmes. Maureen Orth investigates."

Rutherford's smear campaign (a must read)
by Leolaia inthere has been some interest recently about the moyle case, and how it may have set a precident in what became the society's disfellowshipping policy.
in july 1939, the chief legal counsel of the watchtower bible & tract society, olin r. moyle, resigned from his position in a protest over conditions at bethel and rutherford's mistreatment of workers.
he did not want to continue living under those conditions and he felt he could effect positive change for his brothers by taking such a stand.

Stop fighting about Oompa.
by Robert7 ini am writing this because i am so upset about the bickering and fighting that is going on about oompa.
this was an amazing wonderful, peaceful, giving man who never met a strager who is now deceased and you are taking his name and running all over the place with it using it for your own agendas.
he is not a statistic.

(((Stacey))) Thank you for sharing your remembrances of Oompa.
I'm also very familiar with bipolar disorder and I know how frustrating and scary it can be to try to desperately help someone who is seriously mentally ill. Once you think you've taken care of one scenario (hiding the knives), then it's on to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.
Please, please, please don't think of yourself as a failure. It sounds like you were the best friend Eric had. Your memorial will be beautiful.

(((Wes and Stacey))) Thank you for this.
Stacey wrote: " We also did know, and I can’t add up the countless hours I spent being a therapist doing everything in my power to reason and guide, for years."
I've been through similar experiences with two bipolar friends, one of whom I took into my home for a while. It's absolutely exhausting and also terrifying to try to help or keep someone alive when they don't choose to be. I'm grateful for Eric that he had good friends like you and that you have some wonderful memories with him.
(((Loubelle))) I'm thinking about you and I hope that you can get some help soon.

That's a great photo, BB. Thank you for posting it.
I keep wishing that oompa was playing a Tom Sawyer "going to my own funeral" joke. I keep waiting for him to post and say "just kidding" and then we could all be really mad and relieved at the same time. He's been alternately making me smile and making me worry about him for years. I wish I had met him.

LRG: " Life has been dull, exciting, perplexing, awesome, mindblowingly good (at least 2 hours one Sunday morning a few weekends ago) and as usual. Enjoying herb, wine and Stevie Nicks music at the moment. How you been??"
All of the above! Except for the Stevie Nicks part as I'm watching the Rangers game and I'm out of herb. I cleaned out my closet last weekend and I found a bag that Travis (Valis) gave me about five years ago. It was at an Apostafest in my house (you might have been here) and he made eye contact from across the living room, winked at me, and then stuffed a cigarette box filled with weed into my couch cushions. I chucked it into the closet later that night and forgot about it. Do you think it's any good? lol
Crumpet is talking about visiting here in the spring. I'll keep you posted. And I want to hear about your Sunday morning, please. ;-)
